If you’ve yet to come up with a genius costume idea for Halloween next weekend, let us remind you that the clock is ticking. Whether you’re heading to a party with friends, or just want to scare your local trick-or-treaters, coming up with a last-minute costume can be a stressful feat. But fear not, because TikTok is here to save the day.

All month long, creators on the app have been mastering spooky makeup and clever costumes, often captioning their posts with, “The tension between me and this Halloween costume…” In honor of the trend, Vogue is rounding up some of the very best posts so far. Consider their costumes the perfect ones to re-create this year—though, fair warning, a certain level of skill is required to make many of these. (But that’s half the fun, isn’t it?)

Scrolling through the #Halloween hashtag, there are several TikToks that immediately caught Vogue’s eye (and creeped us out, too). Let’s start with the most elaborate: Fashion designer Lacey Dalimonte, who has made creations for Lady Gaga, made a dress out of dismembered doll heads. (To DIY it, you could just pin a bunch of heads to your favorite LBD.) Creator Karla Valentina perfectly channeled Corpse Bride’s Emily, right down to the wedding gown, veil, and blue body paint. Nava Rose also channeled Scream’s Ghost Face, but made it sexy with a black corset and fishnets. In fact, if you’re feeling lazy, the latter creator has been making costumes out of her everyday clothes all month long—her page is the perfect place to find costumes that are easy but still impactful.

If scary Halloween beauty is more your thing than a total, head-to-toe look, then look no further than pro makeup artist Mimi Choi. Among other grotesque looks, she recently executed a Black Widow spider eye makeup look, complete with a bloody red lip. Creator Tristan Valdez also paid homage to Chucky—yes, the serial killer doll—via his signature bright-red hair (which can be done with a temporary spray!) and painted-on face stitches. All you’d need is some overalls and a demonic laugh to truly finish off the costume!
